The day has gears
They pop and creak
They moan for grease and oil

Some of us are oblivious
Some of us have scorn
We pour in the sands of time
Then curse the screeching noise

Some of us feel the pain of the day
Some of us are torn
We can’t decide to clean the machine
Or go and search for oil

Some of us are steady
Some of us can hear
The gears within that our heart spins
The ones we can control

  1. Wow! For some reason I take a huge amount of pride in never wearing ankle socks and loafers. I suppose there’s always “yet.” I like the sailboat and the flag. A good reminder for me in many ways, likely most of them spinning off from a very different beginning. Metaphors. I admit it. Am addicted to them. Thanks, Where.

  2. So lyrical and lovely! I liked it all! Pouring in the sands of time . . .listening to our gears within. Good stuff!
