Gifts of wind

Wind that comes over this land rakes the limbs across the tin
It compliments the distant pounding of fence posts into the ground

There are memories in this air
Brought from places far

Some nestle in the quiet caverns  deep within my mind
Enough to bring a gentle peace
then leave me far behind
They travel to the next ridge
Oblivious to time
But I can summon them in dreams when the air is still
While  branches wait silently
And stoic fences guard the hills
