the rainiest dream

turquoise veiled by wet smoke

an ancient army marches upward through the pogonip

at

sunrise?

sunset?

east or west chases the frozen wind

charted only  by smoke

unknown

all maps curl into spiral shells

one by one the warriors fall into the mountaintop

only to be vomited up into the stars

to shine

like diamonds

my wife gets a “word of the day” from dictionary.com and we talk about it most days.

the title is a mutated version of “one rainy wish”?? hendrix song

  3. One Rainy Wish … the lyrics bring tears to my eyes.

How beautiful that you and your wife enjoy talking and sharing about words. Is she a poet, too, if I may ask?
