rubies in the moonlight

the scarlet saxophone
he stood on a pied flagstone and mimicked owl hoots with his scarlet saxophone

it shined like rubies in the moonlight

and when the owls subsided

he put his ear to the ground

and listened to the water flowing ,teeming with blind   fish  schooled up in darkness

he rolled over and looked at the stars

how many were dead he wondered

van Gogh stars

shining down

making

tiny

little

rubies

in his saxophone

  1. Van Gogh stars…beautiful image.
I saw his work last month in the ‘flesh’; so much more like that than in prints or photos.
